In an article released this week, Columbia News catches up with the newest member of the CU Physics faculty, Zhenjie Yan, who draws parallels between quantum computing and the challenges of managing road traffic. Professor Yan was a postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley before moving to New York City in January, and while some people might be wistful about leaving the Bay Area for the bustling Big Apple, not Zhenjie. He's enjoying the opportunity to build a custom laboratory in Pupin Hall in order to carry out experiments on ultracold neutral atoms and cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) systems. Plus, "I also just love city life," he admits in the interview.
