The Breakthrough Prizes have been the achievements of scientists since the Breakthrough Prize Foundation was co-founded in 2012 by Sergey Brin, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, Julia and Yuri Milner, and Anne Wojcicki. In creating the prizes, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation seeks to celebrate individual achievements for research with the potential to benefit all. The prizes in fundamental physics are funded through a grant from a foundation that Yuri and Julia Milner founded.
The New Horizons award recognizes early-career researchers who have already produced exceptional work. Professor Hill and five fellow awardees were selected for their work in advancing cosmic microwave background and supernovae cosmology.
Stay tuned for more from Colin, who shared his reflections on the award, his research, and the exciting breakthroughs we're all witness to in fundamental physics!
