The Race to Fusion Energy: International Cooperation and Competition

September 24, 2025
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
America/New_York
International House, 500 Riverside Dr., New York, NY 10027

Advances towards the commercialization of fusion energy have triggered an international race. National governments are investing in distinct technical approaches to realize fusion, and with different mixes of public and private sector leadership. With a keynote address by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), this event will explore the mix of cooperation and competition currently defining the international fusion landscape. Cooperation takes the form of bilateral relationships, and the international ITER project supported by member states worldwide. Simultaneously, competition takes the form of national governments and private companies developing parallel capabilities and supply chains to commercialize fusion as fast as possible. We hope you will join us for an enlightening discussion with leaders in international energy policy surrounding fusion.
