"Fractionalized phases in doped moiré magnets"

We investigate the phase diagram of the doped twisted bilayer of strongly interacting Mott insulators using slave-boson mean-field theory. Our study reveals a rich variety of non-magnetic phases, including an exotic heavy exciton phase, which emerges due to the interplay between Coulomb interactions and the moiré pattern. These findings expand upon recent examples of unconventional strongly correlated phases in twisted systems, such as fractional Chern insulators, highlighting the potential for new topologically ordered phases in doped moiré superlattices.
