Dr. Andrew A Payzant, the Materials Engineering Group Leader in the Neutron Scattering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will present a talk at the Materials Science and Engineering Colloquium. Biography: Andrew Payzant is Distinguished R&D Staff member, and Materials Engineering Group Leader, in the Neutron Scattering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and is an instrument scientist on the NRSF2 engineering beamline at HFIR. He earned degrees in physics and engineering from Dalhousie University and a PhD in engineering science from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to joining the Neutron Sciences Directorate he was affiliated with ORNL’s High Temperature Materials Laboratory (HTML) and Center for Nanophase Materials Science (CNMS). His research at ORNL has mainly focused on the development and application of neutron and x-ray in-situ diffraction methods for characterization of structure, texture, and residual stress in materials.
