"Quantum @ Columbia: a 2020 vision"
Quantum science and quantum technology are new vibrant research endeavors bringing together many groups at Columbia [https://quantum.columbia.edu]. I will overview our recent efforts to discover, characterize and deploy quantum phases controllable by light, gating, electrical currents and nano-mechanical manipulation, effectively programming their properties. Specifically, I will focus on enticing opportunities to investigate novel quantum phenomena using nascent nano-optical methods.
Dmitri N. Basov is the Higgins Professor of Physics, Chair of Department of Physics at Columbia University and Co-chair of Columbia Quantum Initiative. His research focuses on electronic phenomena in
quantum materials that he investigates using a variety of nano-optical techniques developed in his laboratory.
