During my PhD, I focused on developing new ways to apply in-situ tensile strain to two-dimensional materials. Using these new techniques, we discovered a reversible magnetic phase transition in the 2D magnetic semiconductor CrSBr. At Columbia, I plan to continue exploring how mechanical tuning can be incorporated as an effective tuning knob in addition to conventional electrostatic techniques in these fascinating systems.
