I have received my bachelor's degree in physics at Bilkent University, Turkey. During my undergraduate education I have been involved in diverse fields of physics ranging from molecular communication via diffusion to tests of quantum electrodynamics using hydrogen atoms and developed a keen interest in atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics.
Here at Columbia, I am involed in a quantum simulation experiment using ultracold molecules. We utilize NaCs molecules which have the one of the strongest dipole moments and we work towards creating a dipolar crystal - a quantum phase in which we expect to observe self-organization without an optical lattice for the first time.
