Tijs Karman is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University, Netherlands. He is part of the Institute for Molecules and Materials's Theoretical and Computational Chemistry research group, which focuses on explaining and predicting properties of molecules, clusters and molecular solids.

Talk Title: Novel types of van der Waals interactions between ultracold molecules

Abstract:
In this talk I will discuss novel type of van der Waals (vdW) interactions; rotational vdW [1], hyperfine vdW [2], and ro-vibrational vdW [3]. For typical ultracold molecules these can dominate over the "usual" vdW interaction (or electronic vdW). I will discuss various applications including evaporation, quantum simulation, impurity physics, and deterministic loading of molecules into tweezer arrays [4,5].
