Sebastian Mizera joined Columbia University as an assistant professor in 2025. Following undergraduate degrees in natural sciences and mathematics at the University of Cambridge, he received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the Perimeter Institute in 2019. Subsequently, he was a long-term member at the Institute for Advanced Study from 2019 to 2025, during which time he also held appointments as a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at Princeton University.
Professor Mizera's research in theoretical high-energy physics seeks to understand foundational aspects of quantum field theory and gravitational physics. His work applies modern mathematical and computational techniques to study interactions and scattering across all physical scales, from elementary particles to black holes.
